Do not try this-not ever

My husband was given some Guatemalan coffee beans by a friend.  It was okay but he ground it all and then decided he likes my gourmet coffees better.  (He likes to think he's not a snob about anything -even coffee.)  It was okay at first, but really about like drinking Folger's or Maxwell House.  It's beginning to get a little stale though and I hate to throw things out, so this morning I decided I would discover a new and wonderful coffee.  I put in the right amount of the Guatemala for a pot and then chopped an equal amount of black walnuts and put over the top. . . . . . Do not try this.  No, not ever.  That was not a successful creation.  It was the color of sick poop only thinner.  It tasted awful.  I mean awful.  I tried to drink a cup.  After about 3 sips, I poured it all out and made with a good cup of Kauai.  I did end up with a totally clean chopper and coffee pot out of the deal.

  1. Put a little vanilla in after brewing ( You can also put part of a vanilla bean in with the coffee grounds before brewing.). Or add a bit of cinnamon, Nutmeg or other "sweet" spice with the fresh grounds before brewing.. and add the vanilla. Or Add chocolate syrup and a little half and half and make mocha. Or chocolate and peppermint extract.

  2. i'm a person who likes her coffee - coffee. I like nut coffees as a whole, but I like the ones that actually use nuts or vanilla beans or roots and not just flavoring. The whole Guatemala coffee experience has been less than awesome. But that concoction this morning? Nasty.

  3. We walk circumspectly around the cook in this house, being that the rule is the critic gets to take over the cooking chores ... so when a creation yields less than stellar results, we say "Very good! But you don't have to make that again ... "

  4. Yeah. I don't have to make that again! EVER! Glad my sweetie wasn't here to partake. It would have left a bad taste in his mouth. LOL.
